A poem for the children, by David McGrath
Friends Vision is a registed non-religous, non-profit association formed by a group of diverse people from all over the world who came together in Kenya to volunteer at a children’s orphanage and their lives were forever changed.
Their experience became the foundation for the dream. The dreams to one day open their own orphanage to care for the children of Kenya. They formed Friends Vision in December 2009 and started their journey to create a home for the beautiful children they meet along the way.
Friends Vision Children's Home is the first of many projects this team will take on in the years to come. It is an orphanage project in Naivasha, Kenya. Our mission is to provide a stable foundation for orphaned children who have lost their parents or have been affected by HIV/ AIDS. Our goal is to provide a loving, safe, family environment that enables children to a happy, educated, skilled and healthy life.
We aspire to break ground (start building) in April/May 2012 with our children joining us by Christmas 2012. So far we have raised US$13,000 of the US$20,000 needed to start building. To donate to our project please go to our donation page.
We offer a child sponsorship program, where we send orphaned, and underprivileged children to local boarding schools to gain an education, and a chance to enhance their lives by breaking out of the poverty cycle. This is an opportunity these children would never have had. You can be the change in their lives.
We run a volunteer placement program that allows people from all around the world the opportunity to make a difference while volunteering at Children's Homes in Naivasha, Thika and Machakos. It is truely an experince of a lifetime.
Below is a video of one of the Children's Rescue Centres in Thika that we work very closely with. A lot of the children pictured in this video have been sponsored through Friends Vision and are now attending school.
